Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for Instructors in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program as outlined below (subject to minimum student enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructional Scale. ($5,607.57 to $8,985.89 per section) 

Duties:  The instructors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the ECCE program. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. Please identify which course you are interested in teaching from the list below:

Winter 2024 (December 18, 2023 to May 15, 2024)

  • ECCE 104: Health, Safety, & Nutrition
  • ECCE 163: Language and Literacies in the Early Years
  • ECCE 141: Observation, Documentation, Reflection and Research Practices
  • ECCE 125: Field Placement I
  • ECCE 124: Interpersonal Communication

The ECCE program may be delivered in a multi-modal distance format; therefore, teaching will be required via traditional classroom environment, online (online courses must be delivered from one of our Prince Rupert, Terrace, Hazelton or Smithers campuses), or in practical fieldwork, depending on the needs of the program.

Qualifications

equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor learners of all ages
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students in a post-secondary setting
