Coordinator - Health Programs - Term (Terrace Campus)

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a 50% term Program Coordinator for the Health Programs: Access to Practical Nursing, Practical Nursing and Health Care Assistant (subject to a leave). The appointment will commence December 15, 2023 and end August 31, 2025. The salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale ($1,336.26 to $1,728.27).

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Health Programs and working closely with the Chair of Health Programs and instructors, the Program Coordinator will ensure program evolution and play a collaborative and leading role in ensuring program quality, effectiveness, efficiency, accreditation, and student success. The Program Coordinator of Health Programs collaborates with the Regional Contracts Officer, Lab Technician Assistant, and NCBNP Coordinator. The Coordinator’s workload role until August will be at 50%, and will then be based on enrolment.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Instructor recruitment, hiring, scheduling, support and mentorship to fulfil program requirements
• Budget and workload development, monitoring, and maintenance
• Program and curriculum development; articulation and educational liaising (including with clinical/preceptor sites and external staff)
• Student recruitment/retention and advocacy; community outreach and program promotion; chairing meetings and participating in committee work
• Contributing to record keeping and timely report writing, including for accreditation bodies
• All other related duties of similar scope and complexity

• A current practicing license as a Practical Nurse (PN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• 3 – 5 years of recent and relevant practice experience including clinical experience
  • One of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution (those in progress must have an identified completion date):
    • Bachelor’s Degree or Post-Degree Certificate in Education, or Master’s in Adult Education
    • Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or Provincial Teaching Certificate
• Demonstrated ability to supervise the programs
• Clinical-site requirements such as CPRC, First Aid, up-to-date vaccinations (including COVID vaccination), etc. or willingness to obtain the requirements (prior to clinical placements)
• Clear commitment to excellence in teaching and the transformation of teaching and learning in Health with a focus on Indigenization and experiential place-based learning
• Experienced in curriculum development and/or teaching in a variety of formats, including online & face to face
• Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
• Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with Indigenous communities, is an asset
