College Professor – History and Political Science (Terrace Campus)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a 50% regular College Professor commencing January 1, 2024.  Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructor Scale: $1,314.15 - $2,105.86 biweekly plus benefits.

The College Professors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction.

Course-load will primarily include History and Political Science courses but may also include Women’s Studies and Anthropology. For Winter and Spring of 2024, the successful candidate's workload will consist the following:

Winter 2024:

  • HIST 106: Canada Since Mid-19th Century
  • POLI 213: International Political Economy

Qualifications

A minimum of both a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline along with teaching experience at the post-secondary level.  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience with experiential teaching formats.

Required attributes/experience includes:

  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based teaching with the ability to inspire and motivate learners
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary practices to promote and respect equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, learning and professional contexts
  • Demonstrated excellence with intercultural competence, particularly in regards to local Indigenous communities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
