Instructor - Business Administration - Term (Terrace Campus)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a term Instructor(s) position in our Business Administration (BADM) program. This appointment will commence January 2, 2023 and end April 30, 2024. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale. ($36.45 to $64.44 per hour)

Duties:  The instructor(s) will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the BADM program. This includes course preparation, teaching, evaluation of student work and guiding students by providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction.

  • ACCT 251 Intermediate Financial Accounting II
  • ACCT 253 Management Accounting II

Instructor led courses may be offered via Distributed Learning, in a traditional classroom setting or a combination of both formats so the use of a learning management system is highly recommended.

Qualifications

:  A Bachelor's degree in Business (MBA preferred) or a closely related discipline (Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources). Additional post-secondary education and training in teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma) is preferred.

  • Extensive experience in Human Resource Management and/or CPA designation or extensive experience in Finance and accounting
  • Experience teaching in a variety of formats, including online, face to face and through distributed learning is required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners of all ages
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset

The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience with business topics. Experience should demonstrate excellent technology skills, group facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
